Benson Vineyards Estate Winery is family owned and operated. Paul & Kathy Benson from Mill Creek, WA (mom and dad) fell in love with Lake Chelan while vacationing with their two son's Scott & Jeff in the late 1970's. They soon made their vacation cottage into a full time residence after Paul retired in 1996. In retirement Paul and Kathy visited many wine growing areas. After several enjoyable and fact finding trips to the Okanagan wine region of British Columbia, they began talking seriously about growing grapes in the Chelan area. After nearly two years of research and joining the Washington Association of Wine Grape Growers, they asked both sons to join the exciting new adventure!

Located on Ivan Morse Road on the North shore of Lake Chelan, with spectacular views of orchards, vineyards, mountains and lake there is no better place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. Certified winemaker from UC Davis, Judy Phelps seeks out the best grapes the state has to offer to craft into beautiful and delicious wines.

The wines are all made right on the premises and if you are here from the end of September to the first of November you will be in the midst of the actual wine-making as you make your way to the tasting room. Our passion is making the best wine using the best grapes the state has to offer.

Our name is based upon a local story about a rowboat taxi service that took miners across Lake Chelan in an effort to reach a brothel on the other side. Visit and we'll tell you all about it!

It is only fitting that the first winery in the Lake Chelan Valley should be located in the last privately run apple packing shed in the area. The Lake Chelan Winery is the culmination of a dream for owners Steve and Bobbi Kludt. With vineyards above and lake below, the winery is easy to find along the Manson-Chelan Highway.

About Nefarious Cellars

Nefarious is located on the south shore of Lake Chelan in the midst of our estate vineyards overlooking beautiful Lake Chelan. We specialize in Riesling, Viognier, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc. The winery and vineyard were established in 2005 and the tasting room opened in February 2006. We are open for tasting daily during the summer months and weekends late/fall-early/spring.
